What I think:
The transition from Mages to Secrets was really smooth as the author is able to link both books together effective by using the right cliffhanger from Mages and an intriguing opening for Secrets. The first book was clearly designed to set up the plot and the start of important events by introducing the crucial characters. In addition, the book enables the readers to get comfortable with the settings and the characters. In Secrets; however, more explanations were laid out to cover the missing gap from the first book as well as to get readers more in depth of the plot line.
Each chapter was beautifully crafted and easy to follow. All
the events were intriguing that I could not put the book down and had to read
it in one go (not recommended for bed time reading because I did stay up
finishing it ahaha….). The drama and the actions were definitely there, more so
then the first book.
The narration was fantastic that I can imagine everything so
vividly! It’s like you are actually there to witness everything! Character
development wise, I thought that all the character introduced have their
importance in the story and not just mentioned once and basically neglected
till the very end.
Looking forward to the third installment!
